Gentlemen,

I am directed by His Excellency the Governor in Command to state, with reference to the subject of your letter of the 2nd instant, that in consideration of the want of a proper place of Worship arising from the defective condition of the mat shed in which Divine service is at present conducted, His Excellency will undertake on the part of Her Majesty's Government to contribute a sum not exceeding two thirds of the expense of building a Church.

It must be distinctly understood that the sum to be contributed by the Government will not exceed £500.
